| Having been a racing collectible
enthusiast for several years I was always searching for ways
to elaborately display elements of my collection. My goal with
my display room was to have it tell a story to anyone who
visited. If you look at the pictures or race memorabilia you
could almost get a sense for the racing action.
That's where my idea for a racing diorama came from. I had
come across some 1/24 scale toolboxes, jack stands, and other
miscellaneous pit items. I already had a collection of 1/24
diecast to fill up any diorama I had in mind. So, how in the
heck do I figure out what to do, where to put it, and what it
will take to build something to a scale that appears to match
the collection I have. My local hobby shop came to the rescue.
Before I put anything on paper I made a trip to my local
hobby shops. I was amazed at the amount of materials that were
available to me to take on such a project. The same materials
model railroad builders have been using for years would be
available to me. I headed upstairs to look for a spot to put
together such a project. Where can I put it so the kids won't
get into it but yet still make it viewable by visitors. Why
not use the corner overlooking the opening for the staircase?
Good idea! |
